Sectoral Determination 7 (SD7), applies to all domestic workers (including independent contractors and those employed by agencies), except domestic workers who –
- work on farms; or
- are covered by –
- another sectoral determination, or
- a bargaining council agreement.
It was announced by the Department of Labour on Friday, 22 November 2013 that the minimum wage for domestic employees will go up on 1 December 2013 –
For the period 1 December 2013 to 30 November 2014
The minimum wage rate for domestic employees who work more than 27 ordinary hours per week is as follows:
Monthly – R1877.70 (45 hour week)
Weekly – R433.35 (45 hour week)
Hourly – R9.63
Monthly – R1618.37 (45 hour week)
Weekly – R373.50 (45 hour week)
Hourly – R8.30
The minimum wage rate for domestic employees who work 27 ordinary hours per week or less is as follows:
Monthly – R1318.48 (27 hour week)
Weekly – R304.29 (27 hour week)
Hourly – R11.27
Monthly – R1146.51 (27 hour week)
Weekly – R264.60 (27 hour week)
Hourly – R9.80
